The London Australian Film Festival is one of the cinematic highlights of the Barbican's year. But rather than keeping the goodies for London audiences alone, an annual UK touring programme, organised with the assistance of the Australian Film Commission, is bringing the cream of down under to the Edinburgh Filmhouse and the Glasgow Film Theatre over the coming weeks. 'I suspect most people will know that Australian cinema, like the British film industry, tends to ebb and flow; there were major developments in the 1970s, and again in the 1990s with films such as The Adventures Of Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert and Strictly Ballroom,' says the Barbican's head of cinema, Robert Rider.
